I love it! Very chaotic, yet beautiful. I get very thoughtful listening to this :)

zybor responds:

Thank you for your review, LSD. :)

This is really cool! Oftentimes I'm not too fond of primarily percussive tracks, perhaps because they aren't varied enough. This piece, however, has great dynamics, variation and a progression!
I can totally see the scene you described while listening to the music :D

Bosa responds:

I'm the same way. I'm glad that you enjoyed this one!

This track is really awesome!
The gradual buildup kept me hooked, the mix is on point, and the melodies are really catchy. What more, you've definitely created an atmosphere here :O!

This might be my favorite composition of yours so far :D!

FateModified responds:

Thanks, LSD, that means a lot! I'm glad you liked it!

I think I do better when I have some guideline to go by, such as trying to express a specific theme or mood. I'm having more trouble making something for NGUAC right now because there are no themes for the contest and the open-endedness has got me kind of blocked creatively, lol.

Thanks for the really nice review! :D

This is awesome! I'm glad I came to check it out ^___^
I'm looking forward to hearing what you create in the future!

P.S. I'm even more impressed that you apparently created this with your phone o.O!

JessieYun responds:

Hi LucidShadowDreamer,

Thanks a lot for the comment and encouragement. Appreciate it!
And I'm glad you like this track!

The intro is interesting! The piece took a different path than I expected afterwards, but I don't mind that at all. It's a pretty laid back piece, so this is the kind of thing I'd like to listen to when going to sleep, perhaps. I like the transition at the one and two minute marks.

My main gripe with the mix is that the instruments feel a bit centered, whereas the track could be warmer if it had a broader sound. Maybe you can try experimenting with more extreme panning, or some stereo shaping with similar pieces in the future?

The chords and the melodies add to the chill nature of the piece, so I could indeed see this as BGM for a videogame. I like how in the breakdown-sections after the transitions I mentioned, the mood shifts a bit. As I'm sure you know, I tend to like some ambiguity in music :p

I actually liked this track more on the second listen than on the first, for some reason. There was a day in between, so my mood might just be a bit different! I like the ending of the piece :)

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks so much for the review, LSD! Interesting is the right word for the intro, indeed. XD I almost wanted people to think "oh, he's making another creepy ambient track" before I turn it into a blissful VGM piece. :) Thanks for the feedback on the mix. I do have stereo widening on some instruments, but maybe I didn't do it enough since I'm easily turned off by too-wide mixes myself. Thanks again for the review! Gl in the ADM. ^_^

I might've told you already, but I use the Akai MPK Mini (Mk2) as well, and it has made the music-making process so much faster and easier for me! Makes dynamics and expressivness feel more real indeed :D
A case in point might be what you did at 2:52, it's awesome!

This is a really neat track, and if goes well together with the cover art!
I like the rhythmic nature; it's a bit trancelike in some way, which makes the atmosphere really effective. Great job, and keep it up!

This is enchanting. Why hast thou bewitched me?!

etherealwinds responds:

well, seeing as you're bewitched do you fancy baking me an apple pie? cheers x

Ooh, this is pretty rad! Good luck :D

This is a lovely piece! Good luck in the competition :)

AzulJazz responds:

Thx friend and good look for you too

I love 0:21 :D

As I'm sure you recall, I'm quite the fan of ambient music :3
Like often with your ambient work, the piece gets a bit dissonant at places, but I don't mind that. There's an interesting contrast between more dry parts of the mix, and some that seem a bit wetter. I guess a few notes can feel a bit rough, like at 2:50, which I might watch out for as it can distract from the flowy ambient feel.

The ending is also a bit abrupt for an ambient piece (even if a part that's similar to the part at 0:35 gets introduced), but it gets the job done. Keep it up!

TaintedLogic responds:

Thanks for the review, Ale! I'm glad you're so passionate about :21. I didn't think of it as a particularly memorable part, more of as a transitory moment. I appreciate your comments about the mix, too. I actually have come to think that I need to work on making my mixes thicker. I think I've overcorrected a bit from the days when I made really wet, distorted ones. Thanks for the heads-up on 2:50. I agree about the harshness there. The ending was a little sudden, that's true. I have this weird stubborn thing where I feel like I shouldn't make a track longer than 4 minutes. I need to shake that habit. Thanks again for the review! ^_^

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
