Yup, this is good :)
I definitely enjoyed listening to this. It's so chill, and simply sounds great.

Awesome job! :'D

I actually really enjoyed the part at between 1:33-2:35, which includes 1:49 => too (all the modulations are great). The section at 2:35 is good too, but I agree that it clashes a bit with the earlier parts. Were I to only listen casually though, I would not notice a thing.
I agree with Joshua about the lead at 1:02. It didn't bother me much, but it could be a bit more dry I think.
Overall, this is a great song; good job! :D

It depends on what you want it to be, I'd say. I think it is pretty cool as it is, but could still definitely use some work. I would make the volume of the percussion a bit louder from 0:14 and further, to begin with.
Some hard strings in the background could be a cool addition too, if they were used in a good way.
I see this is going in a slightly more musical direction in the end too, so you could always work more on that.

I'm sure Elitistinen is soon to show up and give better tips ;)

Insanctuary responds:

The tips you've given me were already on my to-do list.

How quaint.

How could anyone give this less than 5 stars? That ending though XD
(Did you couch or laugh?)

TeraVex responds:

I laughed, I can't even tell you how much I love this thing, it's hilarious.

You know, I love Circumnavigating the Glob too! It's simply a great piece. While I like this version, I still prefer the original though. What I like about this is that it's so similar, yet so different in style! And there's the fact that you added a lot to it yourself too :p

Hmm, I don't think I know both earlier songs based of off Ocular Nebula's piece :/ "Galactic Visions" is quite obviously one of the ones you mentioned, as it's pretty much in the same style as CtG. The only other one I can think of is seconds 0:57-0:59 in "A Catchy Newgrounds Medley", and I seriously doubt that is what you referred to. I haven't yet listened to all of your older songs though :p

I love pretty much everything here. It's difficult to find really good (realistic) brass sounds, so that is forgiven. The bass is great. Well, the instrument is okay, but I mean the way you used it ;)
That creative drum beat that your friend came up with is awesome too XD
As is the rest of the percussion, just as always :)

While I can hear that the bass at 1:50 => is also based of the main melody, It somehow reminded me of salsa music o.O Just add some bongo drums and such stuffz in there ;) (don't do it...)

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Why did you do a johnfn ending? You should've let the piece bleed out properly!
I mean, the ending is fine, but it cuts off while there's still sound!!! D:

The piano is well used as well, wherever it pops up.

I like this variation of the song. Especially the way that it's MUCH slower than the original for the most part XD

Awesome job!

LunacyEcho responds:

=> prefer the original =>

I'll never live up to OcularNebula's awesomeness. :P (except for maybe that poop song)

=> both earlier songs =>

You got them exactly right! I'm pretty impressed. I'm glad there's someone out there who's listening to my songs as intently as you! :)

=> realistic brass sounds =>

SUMIMASEN SENPAI

=> creative drum beat =>

I'm glad you like it! You know, he's Scandinavian too. I once saw him punch a guy in the face who said "I love visiting Scandinavia! It's an amazing country".

=> bass at 1:50 =>

It is heavily based on a latin jazz theme. Adding auxiliary percussion makes sense; I'm not entirely sure why I didn't do it in retrospect.

=> johnfn ending =>

LOL

YOLO

=> piano, wherever it pops up =>

Really? I actually expected you to complain about it. :D That part at 0:26-0:53 has quite a few atonal bits, simply because I was too lazy to quantize everything.

Thanks a lot for the review, LSD!

That church bell after 10 seconds already won me over ;)

I'd love to give you helpful feedback, but I don't really have anything to criticise. I like the beat, the instruments, the singing (+lyrics), the transitions as well as the different segments. Mixing is good as usually too :)

I especially like the guitar solo.

You have a very unique style that I can't help but love :3

I wouldn't be too worried about the quality of the piece not being good enough, as it's good :P
The ending is fine as well.

Great job, as always ;)

GhostLawyer responds:

Thank you so much! Getting a review from you consistently brightens my day. Even if you don't have anything to critique, you always manage to tell me things that I need to hear for my own mental health. To tell me my style is unique is probably the best compliment I could hope to receive. A lot of people try to compare me to other artists, which can be flattering sometimes, but inevitably I want my work to sound like my own.

I've made some slight changes to this song since this version but I've finally got what I'd consider a finished product. I'm gonna update it on here tomorrow. Thanks for listening!

This is very relaxing to listen to. I love it.
Well done ;)

Insanctuary responds:

...

Are you making a game for the Construct 2 Jam, or something else?
Either way, I really like this loop. It's very simple, but does a great job of doing what it's supposed to. It loops extremely well too.
Good job! :'D

Satyre responds:

Hey. I made a game for the lowrezjam 2014. I need to change and add some features and also add medals and a score system to submit it to NG. Thanks for the review :)

Not really a review, but this is great :'D

adieuwinter responds:

Good enough for me ;)
Thanks!

Well, I like this too. I'm sure something more could've been done with it, but it's nice as it is. At first, the drums (at 0:32) caught me off guard, maybe because they were so loud? But as I got used to them (which happened quickly) they sounded fine :)

I always love they way you use a multitude of different elements in your tracks, as it keeps them developing all the way 'til the end ;)
That sax though :'D

The bass entered perfectly along with the synth voice. The atmosphere change at 1:04 is great :)
The voices in the background fit amazingly too; good job with that!

I think my favorite part must be at 2:24 => (aka, the end part).

Once again, well done, and keep it up ;)

johnfn responds:

Yeah the drums are kinda loud. I actually took them from a dubstep drum sample LOL. Possibly the first time that dubstep and jazz were mixed together? :D

Yeah on a relisten it does seem slightly incomplete, like the end "chorus" could have been looped once more... Oh well, glad you liked it though!

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
