Hahha, it sounds neat :p
I like the fact that you're singing pretty deep and with power. You have a really good singing voice! You're much better at hitting the right pitch too, even without any music in the background :)
Great job ;)

JayWEccent responds:

Thank you so much. Really means a lot to me. I actually have recorded this a few times and hated them until I came to this one and even then I was unsure of myself.

I can really feel the KH vibe in this! It's one of my favorite game series too :D
Great job!!!

Troisnyx responds:

Cheers! ^_^

Oh wow o.O
This sounds amazing!!!

So much awesome stuff happening throughout the entire piece. This is one of my very favorites from you for sure! The mix and all the instruments sound wonderful. And of course, the melodies are awesome. Great job ;)

GhostLawyer responds:

Danke schoen! :D

This is a pretty neat track :)
Listening to it puts me in a happy mood :D
Also, the mix is super clear. Only complaint is that the ending just kinda cuts off a bit :p
Great job!

eatmeatleet responds:

haha thanks. Yeah very fun gig

Cool! Yet another pretty neat track :)
The mixing sounds all good to me. I've read that guide that johnfn made too, and it was very helpful.
The only thing about this song that really doesn't do it for me, is that main intrument. The sound design works for some of the melodies, but for some of the other melodies, I feel it may be a bit dry/ lack cool effects for my taste. What I really like though, is that you have a lot of interesting changes and transitions going on here in this piece! The other instruments sound all fine to me as well. I would've just switched up the lead at some point XD

Great tempo increase at 1:55! It's pretty rare to hear that in tracks, but you made it work insanely well. The overall main melody of the track is really nice too.
As always, good job!

Everratic responds:

I listened to the song many times before I published it and I had a similar concern. I couldn't tell if the melody itself was weak or if the sound of the lead was suppressing its full potential. The lead does change; however, in hindsight, I can understand why you didn't notice the change: the only difference between the alternating leads is the wave form.

The transitions are also some of my favorite aspects of the song. I was surprised when a simple reversed kick allowed me to get away with changing the chord progression, and then later the tempo. I learned this trick from midimachine's last ngadm song.

The idea for increasing the tempo came to me at the last minute and it was a great decision. The song starts at 150 and changes to 160 in the climax. I intended to go to 130 in the outro, but I probably deleted that automation clip by accident.

Thank you for the review!

This is a vert cute, soft and nice little track :3
The loop is seamless, which is nice. There was something not working with the Newgrounds audio player for me earlier, but now it loops tracks nicely again.
I love this little piece :)

stunkel responds:

Thanks! Yeah idk why but the audio player hasn't been looping properly. Thanks for the comment!

Now this track, is really my style of stuff to listen to! A very tasteful choice of both chords and melody. It's a very emotional piece, which makes it all the better. You can see from the download ratio that this is a good composition, not only to me, but many others as well.

The instrument choices are good, and they emphasize just the right spots of the melody too. Your pickiness payed of, as it gave a great dynamic value to this piece (especially good job for this being soundfonts, or in the very least the violin). The repetition doesn't really bother me either. As johnfn usually says: a good melody deserves repetition :)
I hear nothing bad with the mix either.

Once again, it's great to see you back, and with some new genres too! You have a speldid taste for good melodies and chords, which I appreciate very much; keep up the good work :D

I actually listened to your ngadm song for inspiration :D

"(especially good job for this being soundfonts, or in the very least the violin). "

Everything except the piano and choir pad is a soundfont.

"The instrument choices are good, and they emphasize just the right spots of the melody too."

I'm glad you liked the instruments. With the violin and flute, I tried to choose melodic notes that emphasized the piano melody or enhanced a chord's emotion.

I'm glad to be back. Thank you for reviewing my new songs!

Man, this is an awesome track!
So atmospheric, and interesting. Wonderful instrument choices, sweet chords and melodies, as well as good use of dynamics, and a good set of percussion to top it off.

While I do see why you'd put this under classical, I also think that ambient would fit it quite well :)
Amazing job, dude!

NicholasCabraja responds:

Thanks man! Ya this was a bitch to mix. I ended up bouncing all my tracks and throughing it into Pro Tools. First time doing that! I feel that mixing in only audio rather thank midi forces me to make everything fit without making major midi changes - if the arrangements good enough of course. :P
The solo vocalist in the beginning was a huge pain in the ass to sit right. So much head voice.
I can feel the ambience genre now that you mention it. The drums are the only dry thing to be honest! But hey, songs should have a 360 degree feel!

Really glad you liked it! Means a lot!

Heh, this is one of the most awesome tracks from the first round, and it totally deserved to win. The atmosphere is perfect. I was pretty sure that this was your track while I listened to it even during the contest. There were 4 tracks I was guessing the makers of, and I got them all right XD
The little melodic content that is in here is really neat too. I like the added flute, as it definitely fits in there and adds to the piece.
But I already left a mini review for this anyway. So yeah, as I said, the melody and the instrument at 1:16 is amazing! Totally reminds me of Crash Bandicoot, in the best way possible :p

Great job :D

Azhthar responds:

Hey! Thanks a lot! I really wasn´t so sure about this just drums thingy with nearly no melody but it seems that it worked :) Actually I´m surprised that you heard this was my piece, since it´s really quite different to the stuff I usually do... The melodic instrument is a wooden tongue drum (whale drum). I liked the sound and thought it might fit to jungle :)

Aww, but I can only make really okay pasta :(

Well this sure is an interesting piece. I think the sounds design is pretty darn awesome. Once the real melodies start floating in, they've got some nice flow too. The mixing is splendid as well. All the creativity that went into this piece is pretty amazing. So much unique and unconverntional stuff going on o.O
And somehow, the track still manages to be structured :/

The sound at the end is just brilliant to top it off. Easy favorite :p

FinaLee responds:

Yay! Thanks as always for the kind words, LSD!

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
