You know, I would actually want to read those books some time. The collab is going well, but we work together mostly on weekends, when we both have time to be on skype :)

Despite our different world views, I keep enjoying your blogs. Maybe it’s because you remind me of me when I was younger. You are a poet at heart. The artist is not to mingle with the world but merely to observe it. I love being in isolation and to think similarly to what you’ve experienced. When one observes the crazy, mindless routine of man’s daily life, one does get a sense of futility and, at least for me, a bit of sadness.
I love imagining what it would be like through the eyes of another. That requires great focus. Imagine what the thoughts of another would be like if I am them observing me. My own face would then become like a stranger to me. Knowing who I am and my innermost being is a strange sensation when you then imagine what if you didn’t know these aspects about yourself, because it obviously isn’t revealed to its fullest degree to another’s perspective. This is the greatest discipline of empathy.
I think looking at humanity and the history of time in the universe appears absurd when you don’t see purpose in it. I think questioning is necessary in seeking it.
You remind me of two things.
First a poem:

Einstein believed in God, but didn’t believe in a personal one. Why? I could totally relate to him and understand by looking into the universe that we are in just as he had. You get a sense of awe in how small we really are and insignificant we seem to be. What a majestic feeling.
King David also felt this when gazing upon the stars, “LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?”
It doesn’t make sense, not until I look at how detailed and small the things are of this world. To look at our DNA in how it carries a message/code, and to think about the atoms in each one of us, it then becomes personal. There’s a lot of space within an atom as well... despite how small, the nucleus if brought up to a size of a marble, the outer edge of the atom would be nearly a football field away.
In regards to a passive generation and observing stupidity in the world:
I think about how we as a people priding ourselves as intelligent beings. But when I think of the Egyptians for an example, I don’t see us as a people any more intelligent than they. “Nothing new under the sun.” History repeats itself. I think we are just in one big loop, and I don’t see societies evolving. I see societies constantly starting over to strive to reach its peak. I think it’s a funny thought when Jeremiah says, “Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them.”
I would offer a different solution than Demolecule. I don’t see mere education being a solution because when I look at WWII, the people of Germany were one of the most educated and sophisticated people in the world. But over an ideology, many people were killed. It all depends what a nation finds important in their schooling:

Unfortunately I have been more cynical in my life as of late. We can aim for peace and have love for everyone, but there are people that just won’t accept that. There are nations that despise this western world. Peace, even if we want it, will NOT happen for it takes two to make it work. We will end up dieing because of our love for others. Unless of course we choose not to, and therefore the excuse for apathy ensues. One has to make a choice... live without love or die for it. As you can guess, I conclude it to be impossible for world peace in its current state. But there’s a Hope. I personally don't find that the purpose in life is to have comfort as some would call peace. Living out true love will have to be a struggle!
Oh, you have no idea how much I enjoy reading your writings. If I am a poet at heart, you are one in both body and soul. Whether I agree or not with what you write, and whatever subject you write about, it's like reading a poem with true meaning behind it. Jokingly, it's the counterpart to hearing Morgan Freemans voice, but in reading.
You're right in that I merely observe the world. That's all I do, really, in terms of affecting it. Of course, I try to add my music to the world, but even if I do have opinions of things around me, I stay far away from world politics, and only point out flaws and strenghts without fixing anything; an observer.
I feel the sadness you talk about as well. I acknowledge it, but try to move on. Some things are too big for oneself to do anything about it. No matter how much one might feel like it, lingering upon such thoughts is nothing but unhealthy in the end. I'm not saying you should ignore it; it's good to be aware of one's surroundings. However, if you can't change something bad, there's nothing wrong with letting it be and moving on to something else. Of course, it can be very difficult to do. Not for me anymore, for good or for bad. While I do keep my feet on the ground, in the real world, I am most certainly a high level escapist. As long as one doesn't distance oneself too much from the real world or rationality, I don't find anything wrong with that. I guess that I also like creating worlds of my own, as an aritst. I really want to write more on a fantasy book I'm working on, but I find it hard to find the time I would need :( It's such a huge project, and I don't want to do it half assed, so to say. I really do have too many projects of my own... But I have become addicted to creating. The process gives me meaning and purpose, more than most other things. The only thing I don't have that I desperately need is time. People might say that I'm only 20 years old, and that there's time to do anything, but life is short, no?
Empathy. Our greatest tool aside from intellect, and what allowed us to get this far. Without it, we could not work together. Alas, it is a limited ability, which is why we see people fighting each other.
[SPOILER ALERT: For all its flaws, I really like the way that Eragon defeated the main villain in the series. By showing him the thing he seemingly lacked; empathy. By showing him all the hurt he had brought upon others, it paralyzed the villain, rendering him unable to fight].
For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by the thought of seeing the world through the eyes of another being. Being that person for a moment, not partly, but fully. The amount of insight it would give is incredible. Shame as it is, said thing is cretainly not possible in a literal sense, nor might it ever be, as it seems paradoxical. How could you be someone else, while still being yourself?
I don't see any objective purpose, no. But if I somehow did, I think I would be more confused than ever (remember that I don't believe in objectiveness). Here's why; In a world such as this, how could anything ultimately be objective? If something suddenly was, that would be more absurd than the fact that nothing would have real purpose. The problem is that objectivity is a mere concept; something labled by humans. It lacks real meaning. Even things we say are objective, are really not, ultimately, or at least might not be, which is enough. The only thing we can be fully certain of, that is true, is that in the very least, the potential for one to exist must in someway be present. I say potential, because if it would be possible to reverse time, go to another alternate universe, or anything like that, you would know for sure in this moment that you exist. So even if we take all that away, the potential must still be there in some form.
Even if there was a God, or many, I would not for a second believe that he/she/it would be objective, because objectiveness is but a word that doesn't belong in all concepts, especially not in all kind of emotions and comparisons. If I say that 2+2=4, and someone says that 8-4=4, who is objectively more right? As you can see, the word doesn't belong in that sentence. Still, if I say 3+3=6, and God says 12-6=6, God would by many people be automatically assumed to be more objectively right. To me, this makes no sense, as both answers are equal, and as correct. So ultimately, if I would on some level believe that there's a 100% objective purpose in life or in the universe, I think it would become all the more absurd.
I think that the absurdity I feel, in the end, comes to be because of my own limitations. My brain cannot handle a full interpretation of the entire world, nothing can. This leaves us with what we can indeed observe, and no matter how we try, it's an incomplete picture. Thus, I feel an absurdity, because I'm overwhelmed by how surreal everything seems to me, a puny human. Does that make sense?
Sorry about the weird rant; I did not mean for it. Something about the word 'purpose', triggered my writing nerve. You helped me realize that it is time to write a new blog post soon though, as I'm seemingly in such a mood. Thank you for that.
I like that poem. It reminds me of one of my favorite things to say; the universe doesn't care; it lacks the capability. Though we are a part of the universe, I feel that a single living thing alone, no matter the size, is capable of more thought than it. And yet, things may live and die, and the universe is still there, largely unaffected. Intersting stuff.
The thing about atoms is fascinating as well. I somtimes go around thinking that a human may be 70% water, but still is 99.99% empty space. In fact, most everything is empty space :)
About the evolution of society, I too can see both development and the opposite of that. History is repeating itself. That said, we've undeniably made much scientific progress since the old societies, and rediscovered some things as well. Still, imagine that the whole surface of the earth would be enitrely destroyed; the only thing of our making left would be a few things in space. Even if we somehow evloved to a similar stage again (the likelyhood of that is infinitly small, but still), we would probably be reliving history to some extent, even if there would be some new possible outcomes, and chances are, things would go much worse than they did for us.
I see regression in today's society too. Even though homosexuality was openly accepted in some many thousand year old cultures, like ancient Rome and Greece, it still isn't in many places, and is less accepted than it used to be in the places I mentioned. Well, I guess that some people might argue that that is progressive ("to rid of such barbaric acts"), but I certainly don't see it that way. So I see where you're coming from.
I will now use the word objectively, although there is room for subjectivity. Statistics show that we, as a species, are indeed becoming more intelligent, in avarage. It's not certain whether that's because of education or physical evolution (probably both). That doesn't mean that there are more relative super geniuses, in fact, we have pretty much reached the peak for our possible individual maximum intelligences for the moment. But the avarage is rising, which is nice, I guess.
Education is one of the solutions, but it needs to be the right education. Perhaps education in empathy, and not one that merely increases Intelligence levels? Seems like you're suggesting the same thing.
I am very cynical as well; I see it as a result of being an observer. Humans are an imperfect species, to use nice words.
Your last paragraph is so true that it hurts. I doubt you watch much anime if any, but I actually think you might like the two I will suggest to you. Only childish people think that Anime is childish, because they seem to believe they have nothing more to learn from such media, which could not be more wrong.
