Well, well, well. If it isn't time for the Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch of 2017!!!

Considering the amount of applying contestants (236, unless I'm mistaken?), I think it's safe to say that a lot of us were happy that the competition wasn't discontinued after all, but only went on a hiatus for a year in order to spare room for what'll possibly become the biggest NGADM in Newgrounds history :O!!!

Let's make it happen!

Now, out of all the applicants, unfortunately only 64 could move on to the actual competition stage. That said, it has been said before, and I'll say it again; not applying is a fairly *cough* certain way not to win ;)

There are a ton of highly skilled musicians in the contest, so the competition will be tough to say the least. This year, the top auditionees were put up against each other, and the bottom auditioners were paired as well. With any luck, this will lead to both a fair game, and motivation to pour real effort into loads of incredible music. Unless I'm mistaken, on some previous years the people at the top have occasionally enjoyed an advantage by being paired with lesser scorers, though perhaps not in the round of 64. There have been years with groupings of 4 as well, but this year we're back to the 1 vs 1 deathmatches (aside from the teams)!

I'm sure there'll be a lot of emotions spreading through the air as the tension increases with every round. Even so, hopefully we'll all be able to remain civil, respect the other contestants, as well as the organizers and judges. Speaking of the judges, they've worked very hard to filter through all of the music so far, in order to give us the 32 segments of the deathmatch; each consisting of all in all 64 artists/teams, which makes for 69 competing musicians altogether.

Considering I manually wrote out hundreds of numbers, it would be beyond a miracle if I didn't get some of them wrong, so let me know it you make note of some remarkable errors.

Sweet! And those are indeed some tight averages, even across broad range. We're looking at some tracks that made it in with la 3.8/5! Not unheard of. The tight averages lining up, a lot of which are exactly the same in some matchups, is interesting.

Yes, next time, please ask for an Excel/sheet. I thought about sending you a text file. Now, what would be really interesting is if the score sheets were publicly viewable -- @ChronoNomad, @TaintedLogic. Could make for some boot shaking performance anxiety though.

I'm gonna start making the rounds with reviews. Some entrants are a little disheartened that for all that prep, no critique! Can't have that.

They most certainly are! It was also interesting to see regarding which tracks you were (more or less) in consensus about the scores, and where there were quite remarkable differences :D
But that's the entire point of having many judges. No matter, the actual personal taste of one judge, you tend to get a pretty fair average, especially if the judges have differing biases ^ ^

I most certainly will ask for them next time, hehhe. But as I already told Chrono, this was certainly good practice of one kind or another :D

Heh, yeah. I didn't want to do much worse than Camoshark! I think I'll write separate posts for each round though, instead of updating this one. Naturally, I'll just copy the format of the actual scores and all, but I feel it'll be more interesting than a single evolving post :D

I suppose I won't do myself the disfavor of disagreeing with that conclusion ;)
