Da fiils!

Beatiful animation; I love it :D
Just you wait, thi'll get fronpaged for sure ;)

I've never seen anyone with an art style so similar to Hayao Miyazaki's work. The characters seem to have had a different inspiration, but all the nature/and scenery, even the cool monsters and such seem to be inspired bu Miyazaki. Is the music original, or is it something by Joe Hisaishi?

Either way, simply fantastic work!

You really have created a whole new and awesome world for this series! Pretty much everything ties together one way or another, even though it is somehow a parody at the same time.
That can't be easy as pie to do, so great job ;)

danmarkowitz responds:

Thanks! And yeah, I've always been planning on slowly tying things together, so stay tuned for the next episode!

Lolled at the animation, and then at the badum-tss at the end XD
Awesome job dude ;)

This is a pretty fund episode if you ask me ;)

danmarkowitz responds:

Thanks! I was trying to fundraise the bar.

Well then...

Dem eyebrows.

This was worth the wait!
You've got a clear style, and you hold true to it through the entire animation :3
The music, of course, is truly great.

I won't say all that is good, as that'd take forever, so I'll mention two things that I noticed that might perhaps be improved upon in future works.
To begin with, to me it feels as if the animation was slightly too slow-paced. Not the intro though, nor the action. Mostly it's the build up with the dramatic talking, as well as the characters' reactions. I feel as though the audience would understand all that is going on even if the characters reacted a bit more quickly. This wasn't true for all the reactions though, just some of them.

Then, it's your animation. It's really great, but as with all artists, there are still things to imrpove upon. The rain and effects are awesome, and now and then, everything is flawless. However, at certain points, it feels like a bit more could've been done. For intance, the jaw movements of the two villans are identical no matter what words they utter. Also, the blood at 3:25 looks a little 2 dimensional compared to the rest of the scene. Perhaps it is because it justs stands as a still image, despite the rain.

That was all of my official criticism.
Othar than that, here follows a totally personal opinion, which isn't really a problem. But as this is probably inspired by anime, and certainly by japanese culture, I feel that the voices are a bit off (which wouldn't be your fault anyway). It's probably because I'm not american that I think this though. I never liked anime dubs anyway, as the style and the voices (usually; there are exceptions) don't fit well. I think it's because in America, dramatic speaking doesn't quite leave the same inpact as in Japan. This makes it so that what is said sounds a tad overdramatic to my ears.
I don't have a clever solution though! The voice actors did a good job, and probably even didn't try to make this sound un-American, as that migh've not been what you were going for. Either way, the accents and animation style clashes a bit in my head :)

Awesome animation dude! Keep going ;)

CrabbWalker responds:

Very acute and honest review! There are definitely a lot of things I could've worked on, but it seems year after year I keep finding myself with a new set of skills, and the constant reviewing would've ended with me re-working over 60% of the animation. Believe it or not, the inconsistencies in my animation actually had to do with my improvements over a short amount of time! I see where you're coming from though. I think the very fluid parts in my animation overshadowed the mediocre parts, transforming the film into something half professional, half-enthusiastic. I do believe this is my animation threshold, so to speak.
As for the voice work, it did sound a bit weird at first. I think there was a slight clash in cultural differences that jilted the animation a bit. Audio/ Theatrics/Voicework is also a completely brand new field I'm just now exploring, so my inexperience with the art of voicing might have something to do with it.
Again, thanks for the constructive review :D

You sure have improved a lot. There are even more puns in this one than usually, and the story took an interesting turn as well! The episode was so intense that I doubt I blinked even for a second while watching it ;)

danmarkowitz responds:

Thanks! Don't bink!

Hey, I remember the art you made for this earlier! :D (Well, "Dysmorphia" too, of course).
It was an interesting watch. The style, most of all, is really great.

Awesome job ;)
