Ah! I made a similarly themed song less than a week ago :D
This is better however; the guitar and the piano work amazingly together, and the percussion is good too (along with strings, etc). What I'm trying to say is that the mix and the dynamics are great :p

the melodies are sweet, along with the chords. This piece doesn't come with much of the unexpected, but I think it's good just that way. There is no time for this to get boring either, as you have several different parts going on, and not just a main melody.

Because of the theme, it reminds me of Clannad.
Great job ;)

ChronoNomad responds:

This one has been in the works for a while, so I'm happy that I finally had a chance to finish it up and present it to the one who has remained the truest. People come and go in our lives, and I've seen an absolute ton of that over the years, but the ones who remain...ah! Such special, irreplaceable hearts. Incidentally, I totally gave "A Song For Someone Else" an ear back when you submitted it, voted 5, and instantly added it to my Favorites! Just thought you might like to know. ^___^

You're so wonderfully complimentary on this song, it warms my heart. I originally had the Iowa Piano VST in there, but after seeing your comments about using Piano One in your own compositions, I decided to download that and bench the Iowa. So thanks! I had actually tried installing Piano One before, but apparently there was a bug in the file since all it ever did was crash. Even found myself a better guitar VST before finalizing it, and the overall sound is simply richer for having done so.

I think it's pretty cool that we've been on some kind of trippy Clannad-esque wavelength lately. Just like Phyrnna said, your piece reminded me instantly of...of....OH THE FEELS! WHY?! D':

...Okay, I'm back. Had to listen to a few minutes of Dango Daikazoku to calm myself down. (; But yeah, such Clannad. So Nagisa. Wow. Much feels. You get what I'm saying.

All that aside, I'm happy that you like this. It's simple and uncomplicated, as you've said - not much of the unexpected, except for maybe the end - but it's just such a pleasant listen, I think. Many thanks again for listening, leaving such a lovely review, and all those pretty stars! Right nice of you.

Long time no music!
It's no secret anymore, but I totally love ambient music!!
And this is actually pretty good too. It's simple, but that is precisely what gives it this creepy feel. This would be perfect background music for a game, especially an MMORPG of some sort, when in a darker area (nighttime, by a graveyard, in a cave setting, etc). The sound quality is nice too, or so my expensive headphones tell me.

Only thing I'm going to criticise is that the loop could probably be a bit more smooth :p

Easy favorite, great job ;)

NekoMika responds:

Indeed, just remembered I made this in October of 2013, when I was starting to come out of the closet. :o

I think I could have done a better job with clipping and stuff but I no longer have the original files to this one though, and awesome. :D

Agreed.

Thanks <3
Glad it's enjoyable :3

This is some really cool stuff! Great job ;)

Wow. This experiment was way more successful than I thought it would be o.O
You all did a great work getting this piece of Newgrounds legacy together.

You really captured the eastern style with the scale you used!
Congrats on reaching so many fans so fast, you deserve it!!
(Don't think I didn't recognize the sound at 1:00, hehhe).

Oh, and happy birthday too!!

Good job ;)

EctiBot responds:

Thanks Luicid :D.
Guess I never can trick you huh XD.

I listened to the first 7 seconds, and I instantly decided to favorite the piece, because it sounded so nice and chill. You better not disappoint me with the rest! D:<

First thoughts: I really love the harmonies and the simplicity.

Second thoughts: I definitely love the synth that enters at 1:05. It's like the best thing I've heard today, or maybe even yesterday included! (Don't worry; I listened to a lot of music yesterday and today).

Third thoughts: Seems like 1:36 is where the piece really begins, although the drum hit may be slightly too harsh for such an overall atmospheric piece.

Fourth thoughts: I had to take an unexpected and unfortunate break from listening at 2:00. I guess I did stop for a moment and breath, while listening to this song. Upon returning, relistening and hearing 2:09, I fell in love. You are the melody master.

Fifth thoughts: Nice transitions, and breakdowns.

Sixth thoughs: Sounds almost like a new song at 3:17 despite some similarities, but it bothers me not.

Seventh thoughts: This track reminds me of some Pink Floydish suff. I like the bass works too.

Eight thoughts: 3:55 = Oh yes. Much sweet, much good.

Ninth thoughts: again, at 4:11, I would've used softer drums. Good thing for you is, I am not good with drums ;)

Tenth thoughts: So much good harmony. I love when synths play at least two melodies or riffs at once in the same rhythm (or if they like... Follow each other. My music theory knowledge is clearly top notch).

Eleventh thoughts: I must've reached the climax as so much is going on. Correction, so much good* stuff going on. I expect a slowdown any minute now... Let's see.

Twelveth thoughs: Here it comes!

Thirteenth thoughts: 6:19 reached. As expected, silence. Would be a perfect place to end the piece, but there's more than a minute left. Slowdown still expected.

Fourteenth thoughts: 6:26 happened. It's cool, sounds a lot like the beginning, as expected. Coherence indeed. I still like the aspects that make this part differ from the intro.

Fifteenth thoughts: I would like to say that you pulled a johnfnesque ending by fading out, but it was done perfectly and actually fit the piece, so I guess... Well played.

You did not disappoint me, as this was definitely worth a favorite.

As you may have noticed, I decided that instead of writing a review, I'll give you my thoughts. I don't think I'll do this again... I hate typing fast (so much corrections to make afterwards), and I realized it takes away some from the listening experience to analyze the track too much during the first listen. And I was even interrupted! I guess that life is an experiment though, ne?
Now, I'll take another listen.

And now a third...

Awesome job!!!
It's great to see you back ;)

Cool cool. This bin nice bro, rly.
The swing is like YEAH DUDE and the melody is like... chill, man.
Real cool intruments too, mate. Like, REEAL Kool.
Mayz be me niidz checks outz them normalizing stuffz too, methinks.
Thanx for the tipz bro, and sweet job!

LunacyEcho responds:

U high bruh

Lol, fusion indeed. Fusion of all your tracks during this project. Awesome idea! No wonder it took such a long time. It's much easier to just make something random, most of the times :D

Normally I would comment about all the melodies and weird progressions between so many different genres, but as it's intentional, there's no point. It really works well here too, if you know the context!

That said, not all transitions are super-smooth, but I will forgive. There are also better and worse melodies here and there, as some of your previous tracks were better and worse than others. I'll focus on the unique aspects of this song (lolled at Polargeist at 3:10).

"...won't make much sense to most people..."

=> I guess I'm one of the special people then :D

"victory song"

=> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHx5hCVN26E

"Maybe I'll give myself another project soon..."

=> Combine every genre with eachother once. Bluegrass-dubstep, Single intrument-rock etc...
You'll be done in no time!

Now, for the actual review...

I'd like to cop out, saying I've actually already reviewed every single part once (if I'm not mistaken, in which case you must inform me, so that I can fix the issue!!!).

But I do like most of the intruments and combinations of them, the percussion is up to par with most of your work. The songs are easily recognizable if you know them. Random proof: A few seconds of "Desert Sandstorm" at 1:19 and so on. Which means you did a good job of including parts from all the songs that make them unique and in separating them from each other too. I like that it's not the same intruments as in the original, makes this even more interesting, and impressive. A lot of work must've been put into this, I'd imagine. No part is really a climax, and no part has like 30 different intruments in them (as that'd be insane, considering how often you had to switch intruments).

I'd have to agree that this is not your best work, but it's still very VERY good. You had a lot you had to work with. The production is good (100 times better than it would be had I made this). I couldn't even muster up the energy to make a medley of my own best songs (DO ONE FOR MEEE PLIIIIIISSSS!!??? :'3?

Ehhehhhehh....

Overall, really good job, and I can easily understand why this track means a lot to you. It's a bit similar to the playlist I have on my account that no one knows about :)

But here comes what I knew you were waiting for...

The ending... Really?

Coversation between Johnfn and Lunacyecho:

Luny: "You're endings are not that good, kinda... ish..."

Jo: "Hello Kettle, this is Pot. You're black".

Yup.

And no, I did not spellcheck this, becus I iz rebl.

Aw3somE W0rck M8, K? K! :D

LunacyEcho responds:

=> long time =>

Ha! Yup! That's why it took a long time. It definitely had nothing to do with the week-long break, my upcoming competition, or my discovery of Game of Thrones. None of that.

=> transitions =>

When I write more medleys in the future (and I will!) I ought to focus more on my transitions, since those make or break a good medley. Step's medley of Super Mario Galaxy songs (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/598812) is done EXTREMELY well. Much better than I can do!

=> Polargeist =>

Yup! Included because Geometry Dash medley.

=> special people =>

You are special!

=> combine ever genre with another one =>

Based on my hasty calculations, that would take 701 different songs. Haha no. Although, a couple of those combinations are a bit tantalizing... READY THE RNG, CARL!

=> reviewed every single part once =>

Eh, probably. :P

=> different instruments =>

Of course! Don't want to make it too boring or recognizable now, do we?

=> no part really has a climax =>

I guess I should've added one. Oh well! Live and learn!

=> production =>

Really? It must all be Logic's work. The only production I did on purpose was stereo imaging those synths at the end, and even that was haphazard and random.

=> DO ONE FOR MEEE PLIIIIIISSSSS!!??? =>

Sure! But give me a time frame of a year. :D

=> playlist =>

Huh? I'll be sure to check that out!

=> ending =>

Hue. Ending. You know, that kettle/pot joke is one that transcends all kinds of cultures. Interesting.

REBL

Thanks for the huge review and sticking with me through the entire process! You really helped inspire me for lots of my songs and I really have to thank you for helping get this thing done. See you on the flip side!

Hey! This is really good :D
It's more 'my style' than some of your songs, even if they are good too :D
The melodies are tasty, the beat is raw, and the progressions and background do their job well. The intruments used are sweet, and work well together. The rhythm is pretty catchy too.
Thus, you earned yourself 5 stars and a favorite ;)

DESHIEL responds:

Thanks man, your review cheered me up. ;)

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
