I may be biased as I love ambient music, but I think this is an amazing track. The nature sounds, like the rain, thunder and the birds along with the strings, harp and other intruments work perfectly together. It helps that the mixing is splendid, and that you used volume dynamics well.
Sounds like background music that could fit in a dark game or a movie.
Great job!
Easy favorite ;)

samulis responds:

Hey LSD! Thanks for the speedy review, haha. For some reason I'm a sucker for thunderstorm-based ambiences... nothing else seems to fit the mood right for me. :)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You can do every genre dude XD
These sounds are amazing! They sound so deep, full and clear.
The beat and the sfx make up most of the track, but I don't mind, as they're AWESOME!
Great job with the sound design, the mixing, etc.
Going out of your comfort zone is often a good idea, as it can help you learn and bring out some new sides.

10/10 would play ;)

LunyAlex responds:

Thanks so much man, really appreciate it. This did feel like a productive experiment. Glad you liked the production; Thanks again!

Sorry I'm so late to reviewing! I've been on a vacation in Cyprus, and when I got back, I immediately had a concert etc. XD

But now that I'm here, I'm astonished! You managed to create such a beautiful track with the samples you were using.
I almost hate to say this, but man do some of the parts of this track remind me of Nobuo Uematsu's work (along with some other retro game composers)! I say that far too often, but maybe it's because of the harp sample, as well as the rhythm at examplewise 1:07. I think it's something with the harmonies too.
Either way, don't worry. That's about as big a compliment you can get from me, as I really love this kind of composition.

Congrats on winning 2nd place!
amazing job!!!

ChronoNomad responds:

Aw, that's okay! Hope you had a fantastic vacation and concert, Lucid. ^___^

Wow, thank you very much for such an encouraging review. I really enjoyed the challenge of using these samples, and the contest idea itself was just plain fun. Not sure why you hate to say it, but I do know that having any portion of my music compared to the great Nobuo Uematsu is an incredible honour. Taking 2nd place in the contest was quite a surprise, actually! A very pleasant one, at that.

Many thanks again for offering up such nice feedback! I'm still kind of in awe that this track has been moving up the charts like it has...

It seems we have some sample magicians here on Newgrounds... Great work Emid ;)

Emid responds:

If it is really a good piece, trust me, it just happened accidentally. Am no where near what you are doing. Your music is awesome. Thanks for encouragement :)

I... I don't think I've ever heard such incredible beauty before :O

This is certainly deserving of a 10000000000/10
Astounding job!

ForgottenDawn responds:

Indeed, my friend! I'm glad you see the beauty of such glorious return :')

Mmm, this sundae tasted great :p
Thanks for the treat :3

Reminds me of some great memories. The name is very fitting, as this piece has a great sense of nostalgia to it.

Keep up the beautiful work!

Noisysundae responds:

Very fast. Whoa.
Thank you as always LSD.

Once again, you have all outdone yourselves!
Waiting to hear some Supertramp now :D

Amazing job ;)

Ceevro responds:

Hehe...looks like we got us a fan! Thanks for listening to all of these! I'm very glad you're enjoying!

Also amazing o.O

I hope @johnfn knows you exist, as I'm sure he'd love hearning this, as I do! :D

NeXsard responds:

wooow thank you very much lucid! very appreciated.

and who is @johnfn??

Heh, I knew Mattashi would be the first to revciew this. The only other competitors were I and dem0, and I am busy being on a vacation (Oxymorons, such broken beauty).
Just a few quick notes.

I love ambiance, which already won me over.

I can hear a lot of interesting atmospheres and feelings, which is always interesting.

You succeeded with the below watery feel, which is great!

You managed to do some real magic to the samples, which is impressive!

This felt faster than it is, which is almost always a good sign.

My only complaint is that I think the ending would be better did it not cut off suddenly. Perhaps some extra reverb and an echo effect on the very last part?

Great work nonetheless, and sorry for the short review :'D

Phonometrologist responds:

vacationing on an island? lawl
okay seriously,
who doesn't love ambient anyway?
eh, probably someone that has a lot of energy and little patience...so never mind
I fixed the ending by leaving a bit of tail in the decay so clear your cache. I just figured having it end abruptly would be a good pun to the story of the piece? okay I lie... I was up too late and I rushed it lol

I'm glad you think I somehow struck some magic. I'm curious what aspect of it would conjure up such a high-praise thought of yours. It's hard to retain those feelings when I first create something after the mixing/mastering stage since I've listened to it over and over for mistakes. I would have to return to it months later from now but this is all reassuring so thank you.

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
