I like it! I think I almost prefer vocaloid tracks in Japanese :)
Even if it might sound like a power ballad, I've listened to enough japanese music (it's a given, most of it from anime. But we're talking a LOT of anime :p) to hear the Japanese style in this with ease; it's very clear.
I like the meolides, chords and progressions, of course.
Awesome job ;)

steampianist responds:

thanks man

I love this!
I love ambient in general as well, but you've done a good job with this one for sure ;)

ForgottenDawn responds:

Thank you! I noticed it was Pico Day about three hours ago, so really not much time to even think of something. Add the time zone problem too. ;)
Glad you enjoyed nonetheless

Oops!
I forgot to review this one until now o.O
Guess I'll fix that by dropping a really short one now :p

This is definitely interesting. It's easy to hear both the similarieties and differences to the original.
Most of this piece sounds fine, but there's something bothering me about the mixing. I guess this might sound a bit flat when it comes to the dynamic in volume, or something like that. At first this seemed a bit muddy too, but upon further listening, I'd say that is more of an illusion, as every intrument is actually pretty clear. I've heard this style being used other times as well, so you did a good job of achieving this specific sound.

Either way, awesome stuff you got here :p

Phonometrologist responds:

Sorry for the delayed response: been on a week long road trip.
This piece was done pretty quickly, and I spent more work on this in Sibelius for the different voice leadings more than I did working on it in my DAW. So I would agree about the flat dynamics, but that's okay since it is Midi. I'll just improve the production of it later if ever need be. Thanks for listening.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, though I don't really know why XD
Which means you did a good job ;)

ZipZipper responds:

I don't know why either.

I think it's more than alright :)
I can hear that it's made in a bit of a hurry, not because it'd be bad or anything, but because this is really playing it safe; it's pretty much as johnfny as it gets XD
But I like it, and what's a bit unusual is that this is a loop, and a good one at that!
I'll make sure to play the game too :D

johnfn responds:

Haha yeah it is playing it safe admittedly! The only thing that is different at all is the faster tempo, I think. Oh, and the rhythms, they were pretty unique for me. Though when I think "johnfn-style" this type of song doesn't really come to mind. (I don't actually know what johnfn-style even is...)

My game is REALLY bad lol... I kinda ran out of time. :P

Ahh, this is so chill to listen to :)
It makes me happy, and though it is pretty calm, it fills me with some kind of energy!

Great job ;)

VideoGameManiac responds:

My goal is to make ppl happy and start dancing all over the place.
Glad you like it! x)

Aaw, and here I was expecting a rapping goat :(
Still awesome though! :D

Phyrnna responds:

xD Actually RapGoat = Raptor + Goat

So rad I can't even give you a review, but have to leave you with 5 stars.

camoshark responds:

I'll take it that you liked it, then?

Ah! I made a similarly themed song less than a week ago :D
This is better however; the guitar and the piano work amazingly together, and the percussion is good too (along with strings, etc). What I'm trying to say is that the mix and the dynamics are great :p

the melodies are sweet, along with the chords. This piece doesn't come with much of the unexpected, but I think it's good just that way. There is no time for this to get boring either, as you have several different parts going on, and not just a main melody.

Because of the theme, it reminds me of Clannad.
Great job ;)

ChronoNomad responds:

This one has been in the works for a while, so I'm happy that I finally had a chance to finish it up and present it to the one who has remained the truest. People come and go in our lives, and I've seen an absolute ton of that over the years, but the ones who remain...ah! Such special, irreplaceable hearts. Incidentally, I totally gave "A Song For Someone Else" an ear back when you submitted it, voted 5, and instantly added it to my Favorites! Just thought you might like to know. ^___^

You're so wonderfully complimentary on this song, it warms my heart. I originally had the Iowa Piano VST in there, but after seeing your comments about using Piano One in your own compositions, I decided to download that and bench the Iowa. So thanks! I had actually tried installing Piano One before, but apparently there was a bug in the file since all it ever did was crash. Even found myself a better guitar VST before finalizing it, and the overall sound is simply richer for having done so.

I think it's pretty cool that we've been on some kind of trippy Clannad-esque wavelength lately. Just like Phyrnna said, your piece reminded me instantly of...of....OH THE FEELS! WHY?! D':

...Okay, I'm back. Had to listen to a few minutes of Dango Daikazoku to calm myself down. (; But yeah, such Clannad. So Nagisa. Wow. Much feels. You get what I'm saying.

All that aside, I'm happy that you like this. It's simple and uncomplicated, as you've said - not much of the unexpected, except for maybe the end - but it's just such a pleasant listen, I think. Many thanks again for listening, leaving such a lovely review, and all those pretty stars! Right nice of you.

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
