Hmm, It seems I still made it to the first review, even though I'm late. Maybe I'm not the only one who's busy these times o' year.
I dig this song bruh.
I liked the clashing chords, with the organ and all, especially around 1:39.

What I like about this piece is that it is interesting. The way the organ is introduced both times with the fade in is cool. I can definnitely understand why you put circus is the tags. Even though the beat isn't necessarily circus:y, somehow, the whole of this is. Maybe it's the chord progressions that make this so?

You know what song this reminds me of? It fits well with you old name here on NG. It reminds me of "The Doors - Light My Fire". Probably the organ along with the style.

I like the melodies in this piece too. They are a bit weird, in a good way. The transitions and automation worked really well in this track of yours. Nicely done between 1:20 and 1:24, as well as 1:43-1:45.

The ending was interesting too, and very fitting.

The only thing that bothers me in even the slightest is the intrument quality, which could be better. I'm not going to hold you back for that though! After all, my intruments are nothing to brag about either ;)

Solid piece, albeit weird :'D

TaintedLogic responds:

Ah, thanks so much, Ale! I'm really glad the clashing chords worked out - I've always had mixed reviews when I use clashing chords, and I use them a lot! ;D I agree with your analysis that it's the chord progression that makes it circus-y. Hmm...I have heard of The Doors! I looked up "The Door" on the Internet before choosing it as my username in 2012, and I remember seeing something about an 80s rock band called "The Doors." Also, I believe an old math teacher of mine liked that band. XD I'm glad you liked the melodies and transitions, and I acknowledge your complaints about the instrument quality. Admittedly, all of the synths, including the organ one, are from 3xOsc. Thanks very much for the review, though, LSD! I'll respond to your PM once I get back from New York. My parents made the rather daunting decision to have us spend the week before New Year's here. ;)

Cool track bruh ;)
Seriously though, I like the quality of that microphone. Now buy me one, please! :3

Merry Christmas!

This is a really awesome piece, I don't get why the rating is under 4 :/
The percussion is great, and so are the synths combined with the strings!
The voice speaking throughout the track really sets a great atmosphere (as do the sfx sounds, or whatever they are).

Interesting name for the piece, but I think it fits well. Did you come up with the name or the piece first?

Either way, great job ;)

It's not your greatest piece, but I like it nonetheless :p

The percussion sounded a bit weird to me at first, but I got used to it after a while. The quality of the intruments is not the greatest, but I like the idea that is behind them. What I really like is your bass work in this piece (at 0:38 => it really compliments the melody too, which is a great trick).

The mood is what makes this piece though. Especially when that electric piano shows up :3
One of those instruments (I couldn't name it) sounds very eastern (Indian or something [Asian at the very least]). The one that keeps playing throughout the entire piece, mostly just hitting the same notes (The introductionary instrument... -_-). Is it supposed to be a guitar of some sort o.O?

Good job; it's always good to try varying stuff and different styles :D

Anyhow, in order to cut you some slack, I won't write too long a review (and thus LSD copped out on his duties) ;)

TaintedLogic responds:

Haha, thanks LSD! Yeah, I agree it's not my best work. The percussion is weird, I concur. I'm definitely going to lower the volume on it once I get back in the music tech studio on Monday. ;P Garageband's instruments generally have pretty poor quality, but I suppose I could've modified them better. I'm glad you liked the bass! :D In fact, most of the guitars (besides that first lead at :38) are actually just bass guitars in very high octaves. XD I'm glad you liked the electric piano. I thought I transitioned into that part a little too quickly. That instrument at the beginning is called a clavinet. It's basically a fancy kind of electric piano. I always welcome lengthy and constructive feedback...I just felt the need to make a pun in the description, haha. Really glad you liked it! Thanks LSD! ;D

I think the beginning is fantastic indeed. The atmosphere is sick o.O
Those whispering voices fit in so well too!!!
I love everything from percussion to sfx sounds in this piece. The drum rolls really set the mood, along with the deeper toms.

Maybe it is because I'm not wearing headphones (so I've only got my laptop speakers available at the moment), but the quality of the harp sounds nice :3

It's not only the instrumentation that is good of course. All the chord progressions and melodies are great too.

It's a shame you couldn't bring this piece to its full potential due to limitations. Astounding work nonetheless ;)

larrynachos responds:

Trust me, the harp samples sound amazing.

I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! I worked really hard, only to get shut down by my lack of ram and processing power XP

Congratz on yet another frontpage! I think that alone says a lot about the quality of your music XD

Mattashi responds:

Thank you Lucid :) I still feel like I could improve some more though!

Already at the mood setting intro, I knew this was going to be a great track :)
I listened to the original by seprix as well, as a comparison, and both versions are really good. I'm impressed by how well you managed to find the same chords and melodies too.

I actually like all the instrument choices, especially for the percussion. Great job ;)

larrynachos responds:

Thanks, I worked really hard on it!

Whoah, this is a really nice trace song! Good job :D

larrynachos responds:

Thanks, bud! I actually was really worried people wouldn't like it :X

This pours out so many emotions... It would be great movie music. Maybe not even background music. It's so overtaking that the movie would be in the background while the music is at front.
I don't see the point in reviewing something like this, as it is so pure and honest. I don't really have anything to criticise either.

I can definitely see this as a fitting piece for loosing a family member, as it should be, considering it was conceived by the concept.
6 minutes flew by like they would've been but the length of a breath.
This is my favorite piece by you so far (and you've made a LOT of great songs).
Astounding job, Phonometrologist.

Phonometrologist responds:

Wow you are very generous with your words, and I am grateful. I don’t really expect anything in return when I write… I just hope that others such as yourself may find some enjoyment or even a therapeutic relief from hearing my music. It’s for you, and I’m glad you’re taking it in this way. Thank you thank you

Great game music ;)

Satyre responds:

Thanks, hope you'll also enjoy the game next week :)

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
