Why hi there :p

That's a pretty cool melody indeed. It kinda reminds me of something I've heard before, alas, I can't quite say what at the moment :/

I've got to say that piano fit into the piece in a very odd way, but it still fit in.
Very interesting chords indeed. I've got no idea what to make of them :p
I wonder if it isn't a bit too dry though, compared to the rest of the piece that is. Same might go for the percussion. I'm sure it's just my opinion though.

I'm not too fond of the lead instrument that jumps in at 0:58 either (your style is very recognicable in it's melody, though I'd still personally tweek some parts with it). I'd like something more... Juicy (like the one in Circumnavigating the Glob, for a good example)? Which would go along better with the sweet intrument you use for the catchy main melody :D
I like the heavy bass intrument too!

I know you did this piece while flying as well, so I can't criticise it too hard. 5 stars for the nice melody, 4 for the rest.

I watched both videos btw, and they vere pretty darn awesome for sure XD

Countries in the tags ey? Might that somehow be tied to the fact that you're traveling? In that case, it'd be more obvious than usually...

Cool tune bruh ;)

I'm probably not the first person to have thought of it! It's basically 5-4-3-2-1 in a minor scale and 5-4-3-2-1 of the major scale two half-steps lower. I find that insanely catchy, for reasons I don't quite know yet.

I definitely should've made the instrumentation a bit more complicated, but planes are really really loud. There was enough backgrounds noise for me. :D

I wonder how you can tell which melody was written by which person? I know there's a few key tropes that I normally go to when improvising melodies, but I don't know how our unconscious picks up patterns and stuff like that. It'd be interesting to do an analysis of my most common melodies sometime and seeing how i can vary them.

=> countries in the tags =>

Well, they're basically all countries that I flew over on my way here to Connecticut from Beijing. :P

Thanks for reviewing as usual! :P

I really like it too ;)

Fuzzy-L0g1c responds:

Thank you! :D

Are you capable of making bad music?

Stupid question XD

I love the atmosphere of this piece! It has a very trailer-ish vibe to it, which worked great with your montage (it is a great montage btw :D)

For some reason, this piece gives me the same kind of feel as when I listen to The X-Files intro (possibly the Doctor Who intro as well). The piano sounds amazing, and works really well with the percussion, and that low electronic sound.

Amazing job, once again ;)

LunyAlex responds:

Thanks for the humbling words! Very glad you liked both the song and montage. Cheers!

Simple, yet fun to listen to :)
I love your guitar work here, as in many other of your pieces ;)
Great job :D

GhostLawyer responds:

Thanks!! I love the sound of multitrack guitar. One of these days I'm gonna whip up some crazy electric guitar piece and get it out of my system.

Interesting song to make a cover of. Just curious, is it (was it) someones birthday?

I see you're getting further in your jorney of genres, which is great :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111
Even more, you've totally LunacyEcho:ed the piece XD
Lol, that organ sound sounds so cheap, and yet it fits this piece perfectly :p

The bass work is as fine as it always seems to be in your tracks. It's great that this track loops, and does so so smoothly too! Well done ;)
That's all I have to say really...

Good job ;D

LunacyEcho responds:

=> birthday =>

Well, it was the song that I was originally planning to write for my dad's b-day, but gave up because it wasn't sounding like I wanted (the song I eventually wrote was, in fact, Heartsteps).

=> genres =>

I dunno if this is really "further". It's just a prog-timed, synth-instrumented, organically-rhythmed type of thing I always almost sometimes never do.

=> organ =>

Yay cheesy default sounds! Actually, that pretty much defines every instrument I've ever used in any song ever.

Thanks for the review! Back to the army... :( JUST ONE MONTH LEFT! YOU CAN MAKE IT!

I like the sound, although it'd be much better with better VSTi:s. The chord progression and melody sets a good mood, along with the percussion. I'm guessing this is mostly an experiment, which explains the length. It could still be longer though (coming from the wrong guy XD). The way the piano is incorporated into the piece is very nice :)
Good job!

Krichotomy responds:

Yes, a hasty experiment using free soundfonts, free percussion samples, and a synth. I don't feel very inclined to make many more serious pieces until I get serious hardware and software. Thank you for the compliments. :)

Well, this is a great piece for sure :p
You're definitely good at making these ambient tracks.
I agree with LunacyEcho on pretty much everything here.
The organ is great, and all the other instrument choices are good too. It must be really interesting to compose and arrange stuff like this.
I think what I'd still like to head in this would be something more high registered. High tones on a piano with much reverb always helps in tracks like this XD

The melodies are quite intriguing, and very original, yet somewhat too repetitive for my taste. I LOVE that bell that is hit every now and then!!!

A bit of a lame review, but I'm at a lack of time :D

TaintedLogic responds:

Thank you so much, LSD! No worries about the short(er) review. It's still longer than 95% of the reviews on NG - trust me. I really am lucky to have so many pals who write me such generous reviews on this site. ;D I'm glad you liked it so much, though, and I'll definitely consider the higher-register instruments more in the future. Your input is much appreciated! Thanks again. You're in the home stretch in the army, btw. Only 32 more days. You can do it! :D

Simply awesome ;)
Props to all the musicians!

Step responds:

Thanks! Indeed, the musicians did an excellent job with this.

I appreciate you leaving a review man.

I'm sorry I don't have time to leave real reviews (at least as of now), but I listened to all the four songs you just uploaded. They are all flawless, and they loop too, which I love! I gave them all 5 stars. Amazing job ;)

Well, I'm glad you're back, and with an intention to change your style a bit :D
As for myself, I'm still stuck here in the army for a while :)

That said, I don't have that much time for writing reviews and looking at what's going on here on Newgrounds. I still feel as though I should comment upon this piece, as it definitely deserves it.

I'd say that this composition brings forth both new and old aspects of your compositional skills and instrumentation. I love all the leads and synths, just as always; they sound so smooth and soothing; that is, chill. I recognice some VSTi:s you've used earlier, but that doesn't matter, as long as the music sounds good :D

I like pretty much everything about the song. The piano in the intro, all the transitions, as well as the structure (which ties the ending and the beginning together quite well). I'm especially fond of the sounds (or is it tied to an intrument?) that first appear at 0:29. They give me a somewhat cold (icy) feeling actually, although I'm not sure if that's intentional.

What also caught me about this track is that at some points it's almost as if there's two different songs playing together at the same time, and they align perfectly. I think this is because of the piano melody combined with all the rest :p
This is especially prominent near the end, somewhere around 3:00.
It works really well, so I like it!

Beautiful melodies. You really are great at those.

Anyhow, I don't have much else to say at the moment, except for great job, just as always ;)

PS. This time your ending doesn't cut off suddenly, but includes around 15 seconds of empty space XD?

I exist. That'd pretty much be it. Pictures made on Paint.NET (getpaint.net) and Apophysis 7X.
